Yes. With the exception of in-copyright readings, any material that has been published by Broadview Press over our 30 year history can be included in a Custom Text. You may also include documents you’ve written yourself (please make a note about this in the Special Instructions field). If you can’t find the reading that you’re looking for, please be in touch with our Custom Text Administrator (email@example.com), and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
The cost structure of each Broadview Custom Text is fairly straight-forward. There is a base administration fee of $10 per copy for orders of more than 50 copies, and $15 per copy for orders below 50. In addition to the base rate, there is a per-page printing cost of $0.10.
Due to the time and work involved in creating, proofing, printing, and shipping your Custom Text, we ask that you begin the process no less than six weeks before the start of your class.
Broadview’s Custom Text Administrator (firstname.lastname@example.org) is happy to assist at any point of the Custom Text creation process. Please feel free to email with any questions at any time. If you are used to working with a specific Broadview Sales Representative, that person will be happy to assist you as well.

No. Broadview’s Custom Text Builder is designed to be as user friendly as possible. This means no complicated username or passwords to remember. If you wish to leave the site after beginning work on your Custom Text, please be aware that your progress may be lost if you don’t complete the confirmation page. Your order will not be finalized until after you’ve communicated with a Broadview representative and approved your PDF proof. Changes are welcomed and encouraged at every step along the way.
In the past it was possible to include readings that were in-copyright with an author or rights holder other than Broadview Press (we collected additional royalties for these readings that were distributed to the author or rights holder via a collective licensing agreement). Unfortunately, there has been a change to the terms of this license, and we are no longer able to clear rights that allow for the inclusion of in-copyright readings in our custom texts. If you have any questions about this new policy, or if you would like to inquire about the eligibility of particular readings, please contact our Custom Text Administrator (firstname.lastname@example.org).
A maximum of 10% of coursepack orders are returnable. There is a 5 unit minimum for all orders and top ups. Bookstores must submit orders for Custom Texts to Broadview at least 5 weeks before the start of term to ensure that the orders are filled on time.
